Interesting and Incredible Space Facts that are Out of This World
Due to the sheer size of space, it contains trillions of objects and galaxies that are out of this world, here are some incredible facts about space.
Space is a vacuum hence, it is completely silent with no sounds heard. There are no gases in space which are responsible for emitting sound waves hence, sound can cannot be able to travel in mars. In addition, sound cannot be found on space because of lack of molecules to vibrate.
Because of its sheer size, no one knows the number of stars that are found in space. This means the estimated milk way which has around 400 billion stars is multiplied by the universe galaxy making the numbers infinite.
Apart from planet Earth, Mars is another planet in the solar system that is believed to have life. In order for life to thrive, there needs to be water and there are some research that have proven presence of a long supply of water in Mars. With the aim to determine whether life ever evolved on Mars, NASA conducted some research and found fossils of tiny living things recovered in a rock.
The universe has very tiny stars with only a radius of 10 km known as the Neutron stars and they are known to spin 600-712 times per second. They can rotate up to 60 times per second when they are born from a star explosion. They have a mass greater than that of the sun and due their physic, they can spin very fast in just a few seconds.
Space has thousands of other planets outside of the solar system. The planets which are outside the solar system are referred to as exo-planets and are in an orbit that is around a different star. Astronomers have confirmed at least 1800 new planets but most of them are hot gas and are not habitable like planet Earth.
Although the sun is considered an average size star, one million Earth’s would fit in it. The sun has a mass of 99.86% which is almost 330,000 times the mass of Earth. Therefore, due to its sheer size, it means that millions of earth can be able to fit inside it.
Another tricky but interesting fact is that, on Venus, a day is longer than an year in Earth. This means that it takes 244.7 Earth days for Venus to rotate on it axis just once. However, it takes less time for Mars to rotate its own axis which is 423 Earth days.
When astronauts go to space, they do not use their feet to walk because the skin of the feet may peel off. This is mainly because the skin becomes soft and the dead skin cells will start to flake off.
